Peace Child Israel: The Third Decade Begins Now
Against all odds, the veteran
peace-education organization
Peace Child Israel is starting its 3rd decade of repair work, using theatre and the arts to bridge the gap and help heal the
wounds between Arab and Jewish teenagers in Israel.
After mounting an unheard-of
Twentieth
reunion for Arab and Jewish program alumni at the Jerusalem Theatre on June 26th,
Peace Child Israel now prepares for the beginning of a new decade. Its third.
On July 29th, 30 Arab and Jewish staff members will convene in Achziv for a
5-day training seminar.
If funding permits, pairs of schools at seven locations will begin the 2-year leadership
program in September, including:
-
Ramle/Lod
-
Tel Aviv/Jaffa
-
Kochav Yair/Qalansua
-
Haifa (Arab and Jewish schools)
-
Shefar Am/ Harduf
-
Akko (Arab and Jewish schools)
-
Matte Asher (Arab and Jewish schools)
On
August 21st, 80
teenagers continuing with the second year of the program will convene for 3 days at the Bet Shean Youth Hostel to
revive their original plays for monthly performances beginning September. Teens come from the following Arab and Jewish
communities:
-
Sakhnin/ Misgav
-
Nazareth/Yagur
-
Ramle/Petach Tikvah
-
Holon / Jaffa,
