 ביום שישי, ה-17/12/04 נפגשו 180 בני נוער, יהודים וערבים מכל רחבי הארץ המשתתפים בתוכנית ילדי השלום ומנהיגים לעתיד, כדי להכיר, ולראות שאינם לבד. צעירים ממזרח ומערב ירושלים, תל אביב –יפו, קלאנסווה ועמק חפר, פתח תקווה וכפר קאסם, יתכנסו במשכן לאומנויות הבמה כדי לפגוש אחד את השני ואת עולם התיאטרון והמוסיקה במיטבו ביום פעילויות גדול אשר יאפשר פלטפורמה לדיאלוג, שיחה ושיתוף.

 On Friday December 17, 2004, 180 Arab and Jewish teenagers from throughout the country presently participating in the Peace Child Israel program – leaders of the future – had the chance to see that that they aren’t alone.  Youth from east and west Jerusalem, Kfar Kassem, Petach Tikvah, Tel Aviv, Yafo, Emek Hefer, Qalansua, Sakhnin, Misgav, Nahariya and Matte Asher  convened at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. The event was planned to emphasize the performing arts and the teenagers were given a tour of the main-stage and production areas of the opera house, a darbouka workshop with Bishara Nadaf, an intro to opera and musical comedy. Ms. Inas Massalkha also performed a piece of Faiyruz.  After lunch, Peace Child Israel graduates from Skahnin and Misgav performed an excerpt from their play “Maybe” The day concluded a special guest appearance by renowned actor Suheil Hadad performing a scene from his one-man show: “Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran."

Who

Peace Child Israel is the pioneer and veteran of coexistence programs through the medium of theatre for Arab and Jewish teenagers. In 1988, the late Habima Theatre actress Yael Drouyanoff formed an NGO with members of the Arab and Jewish community, with the help of David Gordon, co-founder of Peace Child International. Teenagers from neighboring communities meet weekly and conclude their first year of activity by writing and performing original plays in Arabic and Hebrew. They continue as young leaders by performing their plays for school audiences. Groups are co-facilitated by Arab and Jewish professionals from the field of theatre and social work. The PCI Board of Directors is comprised of Arab and Jewish individuals from the field of social work, education, communication and finances. Peace Child Israel is a registered “amuta” and receives “correct management” status annually. Since inception, Peace Child has grown from one workshop in Jaffa to a nation-wide organization, reaching a record 11 workshops in the 2005-2006 cycle. In 2001, parents of participants were added to the circle of activity.
