Perverting the language of dialogue and peace making05/02/2008 Yours truly has received of late some very different communications that are united by their common cynical abuse of the highest aspirations of the human race. They are all waging war, and attempting to perpetuate hatred and racism. They are all the more odious because they use and abuse the language of "peace," "solutions," "justice" and "reconciliation." The first such missive proffers a "solution" to the Israeli-Arab conflict based on "reconciliation" and "fairness." The solution is presented in various pages at http://www.middleeastsolutions.com. Here's the good news:
All the correct buzzwords have been employed to give the impression of a group that is genuinely interested in peace. Here is the bad news:
From the above, it is evident that words like "reconciliation" and "peace" can be used to cloak the most monstrous and unfair ideas. Those of my Zionist friends who really do not understand why the idea is monstrous, should consider that President Ahmadinejad of Iran might have a precisely analogous plan. In his plan however, it is not the Arabs who are to be moved outside of the territory of the Palestinian mandate. Rather, the Jews would be moved to a state set up for them somewhere in Europe. "Given the right attitudes this conflict becomes among the most easily solvable." Perhaps however, the entire idea should be viewed as a clever parody. In reality, it is no different from the many messages from "Justice" and "Reconciliation" groups that we we get all the time, which protest "60 years of occupation" and call for "justice" in the form of return of millions of Arab Palestinians to the Jewish State of Israel, in order to deny the Jewish people the right to self determination in their own land. It is no more or less monstrous to insist on evacuating the Jews of East Jerusalem, where there was a Jewish community for many hundreds of years, then it is to insist on evacuating the Arabs of East Jerusalem or Silwan. Peace is never going to happen as long as each side defines "peace" and "justice" as destruction of the other and trampling the rights of the other. Ami Isseroff

Replies: 1 Comment So how is denying Arab refugees the right to go home morally equivalent to making more Arabs into refugees?
