Annapolis meeting: Propitious signs for peace10/27/2007 Truly, there has never been such unanimity in the Middle East before. We can see that in the articles published here about the upcoming Annapolis meeting (see Eran Lerman, Yossi Alpher, Ghassan Khatib, Oded Eran and Daoud Kuttab and yours truly ) as well as in Op Eds around the Middle East and positions of various statesmen. With such unanimous agreement, it is certain that the Middle East has a bright future ahead. Whether you live in Oman or Beirut, in Tel Aviv or Tehran, in Jerusalem or Jerash, in Rehovot or Riyadh, you will read and hear the same thing. From the Indus to the Mediterranean, from Asia Minor to North Africa, everyone is agreed on all the major points. To wit:

Replies: 1 Comment It is only when those people step forward, and are willing to continue to push the peace process forward no matter what, that we will see any real progress. It is hard to know who those people may be, but Mr. Abbas, Mr. Olmert, Ms. Rice and Mr. Bush all have an opportunity this fall to become those people. To be sure it would be a challenging role to embrace, but perhaps if one or two of them are brave enough, Annapolis might actually produce something meaningful. Posted by Daniel E.
