In Saddam's prison12/14/2003 The brief re-emergence of Saddam into daylight calls to mind the reaction of some Iraqis to the fall of his regime last spring. They searched furiously for missing relatives, convinced they were hidden in underground prisons.
But to the best of my knowledge, no subterranean cells were unearthed, and none of the missing were found alive. The underground prisons of Iraqi myth turned out to have been mass graves. Until today. How ironic is it that the first of Saddam's prisoners to be disgorged alive from the soil of Iraq should be Saddam himself? Analyst
